A female driver has turned herself into police and has been charged in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in West Philadelphia last month that killed a 5-year-old boy. 25-year-old Anisa Thompson was taken into custody at the 9th District in Spring Garden. She is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, fleeing the scene of an accident where a death resulted, and related offenses. It happened on June 22nd on the 5000 block of Irving Street. 5-year-old Xavier Moy was struck and killed. A few days later, a vehicle thought to be involved in the crash was turned into police. Investigators are still trying to determine its involvement. The DA's office is asking $500,000 bail.

An off duty officer was injured and another man killed by stray bullets in a shooting at a 4th of July barbecue on Wednesday night. It happened around 10 p.m. on 7000 block of Buist Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia during a neighborhood block party. The shots were actually fired about a block away on Muhlfield Street. The two victims were not the intended targets and got hit by errant gunfire. 24-year-old Michael Boateng was shot in the chest. He was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center where he died. 38-year-old Philadelphia Police Officer Fred Attakora was shot in the arm and abdomen. He was also taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and is in stable condition. Attakora was off duty at the time. Philadelphia Police are looking for witnesses or surveillance video from the area.

Philadelphia Police believe that a person of interest being questioned for the sexual assault of a teenager at a Center City SEPTA station is the actual suspect sought for the crime. Charges have not yet been filed but authorities are confident they have their suspect. The man was taken into custody Wednesday, 7/4, before 6 p.m. by SEPTA police after being stopped for resembling the description of the suspect. He was carrying a loaded Glock 9mm handgun without a license. The attack happened on Tuesday, 7/3, around 10 p.m. in the City Hall station. The armed suspect grabbed a 17-year-old female from behind and performed a sex act on her. The victim reported it right away and the suspect was caught on surveillance video in the station. The investigation is ongoing.
