Police have arrested a man from Delaware County who is a suspect in the attempted rape and robbery of an 82-year-old West Philadelphia woman earlier this month. 23-year-old Darius Johnson was taken into custody on the 1900 block of Carter Road in Folcroft on Monday. He is charged with Attempted Rape, Burglary, Robbery, Simple Assault, Risking a Catastrophe, Conspiracy and related charges. The incident happened around 8 p.m. on July 19 on the 600 block of Sansom Street. Two men with towels around their heads broke into the woman's home and went up to the upstairs bedroom. They attempted to sexually assault her but she told them to stop and they did. The men then took several items from her home including a keyboard, $160 cash, and her cell phone. Police were able to identify the suspect's car. They are still looking for the second suspect.

The pastor of a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Wilmington was attacked on Monday afternoon, 7/30, in the church office. 25-year-old Joshua August has been charged with felony assault 1st, misdemeanor assault 3rd, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor criminal mischief. It happened around 2 p.m. at Resurrection Parish on the unit block of Videre Drive in Pike Creek. Father William Graney was allegedly assaulted inside his office by August. Church employees heard a struggle coming from the room. They found the priest on the floor and the suspect punching and kicking him. The employees tried to pull the suspect away but he pushed them off. The suspect then went to another room and returned with a wine bottle. He poured the wine over the priest and then began to hit him with the bottle. He also sprayed compressed air in his face. The employees were able to coax August outside by saying they'd call for a ride and give him money. They locked the doors once he exited the building. He broke the door trying the get back inside. Police caught him as he was skateboarding away. Father Graney was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. The church offices are closed and daily masses canceled until further notice.

Supporters of 20-year-old Michael White will gather for a prayer service and vigil this evening, 7/31, ahead of his preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday, August 1st. White is charged with 1st degree murder in the stabbing death of real estate developer 37-year-old Sean Schellenger. It happened on July 12th around 10:50 p.m. at 17th and Chancellor streets near Rittenhouse Square. Schellenger was a passenger in a car that was stuck in traffic. He had exited the vehicle to encourage a car to move along. White, a college student, was working for uberEats delivery service and was riding his bike through the area. For reasons unknown, a confrontation between Schellenger and White broke out and escalated. White pulled out a large knife from his bag and stabbed Schellenger in the back. Schellenger died at the hospital. White fled the scene, but turned himself in on July 14th. Supporters for Michael White say that he acted in self defense. They hope that the judge will reduce or throw out the charges and grant bail at Wednesday's hearing.

Justice for Michael White Rally. 4:30 p.m. Prayer Vigil - True Gospel Tabernacle Church, 5:00 p.m. Assemble - Love Park, 5:30 p.m. Rally - 3 South Penn Square.
