McLaughlin's daughter and grandson were able to escape from the fire and were rescued from the roof by a passerby who happened to be an Upper Darby police officer. Roseann was a registered nurse and was the Health Services Coordinator at the Overbrook School for the Blind. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the daughter and grandson.
