Outdoor Philly concert venue, Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, will be closed this summer for the 2019 season. Concert promoter Live Nation and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation say that all shows will be relocated to other venues in Philadelphia. The annual Roots Picnic is now being held at the Mann Center on June 1st after being moved, though organizers say that had been planned before. Hoagie Nation Festival put on by Hall & Oates will take this Memorial Day Weekend off. Live Nation says that the venue is going "on sabbatical" and the DRWC says the site is undergoing redevelopment. The future of this site located under the shadow of the Ben Franklin Bridge is unknown. Live Nation is considering building a new outdoor music venue, possibly upriver in Fishtown or elsewhere in the city. The current site could possibly be redeveloped into a mix of rental, retail, and public space. Concerts this summer may move to The Met, Great Plaza, Mann Center, BB&T Pavlion, or others.

One person was killed and three firefighters suffered minor injuries in a fire in Northeast Philadelphia Friday afternoon, 3/15. It happened just after 4 p.m. in a two-story row home on the 3200 block of Birch Road. Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel called the conditions inside "very challenging." Neighbors described the resident of the home as a hoarder, which made it harder for firefighters to get into the building and added fuel to the fire. The fire was brought under control in an hour. Rescuers pulled out one deceased adult male. A possible second person is not accounted for. Three firefighters were injured and are expected to be ok. The adjacent homes were heavily damaged. The Red Cross is assisting six people who have been displaced.

One teen was killed and another was critically injured after the dirt bike they were riding crashed into an SUV in Bensalem, Bucks County on Friday afternoon, 3/15. The accident happened at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Tyler and Virginia Avenues. Police say that the dirt bike was traveling at a high rate of speed heading east on Virginia Avenue. It was carrying two riders. The GMC Acadia was traveling south on Tyler Avenue. It had the right of way. The dirt bike blew through the stop sign and crashed into the SUV. Both teens were thrown from the bike. They were taken to the hospital. The passenger, 18-year-old Raymond Horner, later died from his injuries. The 16-year-old driver is in critical condition. It is not legal to drive dirt bikes and quads on the street.
