An insurance agency representing Bill Cosby has agreed to settle lawsuits filed by seven women who claim the entertainer defamed them by accusing them of lying about sexual misconduct allegations. The terms of the agreement are confidential. Cosby's spokesperson says that AIG went ahead with the settlement without the 81-year-old's knowledge or consent. "Mr. Cosby vehemently denies the allegations brought against him in these defamation suits and he maintains his innocence," spokesman Andrew Wyatt said in a statement. Wyatt says that Cosby still plans to pursue counterclaims against the women. Cosby is currently serving three to 10 years at SCI-Phoenix in Montgomery County. A federal judge handling the case in Springfield, Massachusetts, must approve the settlement.
