Woman Stole City Truck For Joyride; Women Steal $21,000 in Panties; Sentence in Delco Molotov Attack

A woman stole a city-owned truck and took it for a joy ride on Tuesday night, 4/9. 33-year-old Amanda Bonner was arrested and charged with third degree theft, unlawful taking; third degree theft, receiving stolen property; and a second-degree misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of an automobile. It happened at 8:37 p.m. on the 1200 block of Walnut Street. Bonner approached a Streets Department crew that was setting up to do work and told them she was going to pee between their trucks. Instead, she got into a city-owned Ford F-350 pickup that was left idling and took off. One employee chased after her on foot and another by vehicle. They caught up to her at 16th and Locust. Police took her into custody.

Police are looking for two women who stole $21,000 worth of women's underwear in Cumberland County near Harrisburg on Sunday, 4/7. It happened around 3 p.m. at the Victoria's Secret store in the Capital City Mall in Lower Allen Township. It only took the two thieves two minutes to fill their bags with 2,000 pairs of panties. "The suspects took all the panties on the front display and all the ones in the drawers below the display while the employees were busy with other customers," said police.

A Delaware County man has been sentenced to 12.5 to 25 years in prison for throwing a Molotov cocktail at a Deputy Sheriff during the execution of a warrant in 2017. 41-year-old Jeremy Jones of Collingdale pled guilty on January 23rd to felony attempted homicide, felony aggravated assault, and misdemeanor possession of an instrument of crime. He also is sentenced to five years state probation and ordered restitution. On August 9, 2017, Sheriff Deputies and Collingdale police officers went to Jones' home to execute a probation violation warrant. They knocked several times announcing "Sheriff's Department." When they didn't get a response they turned to leave. At that time, the door opened and Jones appeared holding a clear glass bottle of liquid with flames coming from the top. He threw the bottle and hit Deputy Sergeant Nick Maraini. It exploded and set his lower body on fire.

"Jeromy Jones threw a Molotov cocktail directly at Sergeant Maraini, with the clear intent to kill him. As a result of his violent actions against law enforcement, the defendant will spend the 12.5 years of his life in prison. I would like to commend the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Collingdale Police Department, and CID Detectives Larry Patterson and Dave Tyler for their quick response. I would also like to commend Assistant District Attorney Mary Mann for her outstanding prosecutorial skills and for bringing this case to justice for Sergeant Maraini and our other law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect the residents of Delaware County," Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun Copeland said.
