Kevin McGuire of Somerdale, Camden County, New Jersey is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He was first diagnosed when he was 13. Now 18, He is now being treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for a relapse of the leukemia.

Kevin is now a senior at Sterling Regional High School. His sister, Victoria, came up with the idea to have Taylor Swift attend Prom with Kevin. “I tried thinking of a kind person who would make me feel OK. And laugh,” he said. “A person who would look amazing, and the one person who would make me feel special for one night. It was her.”

They set up a Facebook page for the cause. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Taylor-Swift-Go-to-Prom-with-Kevin-Mcguire/261221950621156 Unfortunately, Taylor could not make the date for the prom, but proposed an alternate instead.

“Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom,” Swift posted on her Facebook page. “But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date?”

The Academy of Country Music Awards are on April 1st in Las Vegas. Taylor Swift, a Wyomissing, PA native, certainly found the next best thing.
