Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Bucks County man who was hit while working in his auto body shop in Philadelphia earlier this month. 19-year-old Shabazz Sweets and 25-year-old Eric Smith are charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, and other related offenses. It happened on April 17 around 3:15 p.m. on the 4800 block of Benner Street in Wissinoming. Two rival groups opened fire over drugs. 15 shots were fired. 56-year-old Michael Gleba of Bensalem was working inside Northeast Speedometer Services at the time and was hit by a stray bullet. Police found him suffering from a gunshot to the stomach. He was taken to Frankford Torresdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 20-year-old James MacGregor and 28-year-old Timothy Sherfield were previously arrested.

The mayor of Wildwood, NJ, has said that he will continue to play singer Kate Smith's version of "God Bless America" every morning on the boardwalk despite the controversy that prompted the Yankees and Flyers to sever ties with the song. Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. has "no intentions of removing" the song. "Her version is the best version," he said. The song plays every morning at 11 a.m. on the boardwalk. The Wildwood American Legion Post 184 has even created a petition to have the bronze statue of Smith brought down the shore. It was removed from its place in South Philly over the weekend. "God Bless America represents every veteran," says Post Commander Harry Weimar. "Every veteran is affected by this. As far as I am concerned, Kate Smith is Miss Patriotism." Mayor Troiano would welcome the statue. Sign the petition here: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/katesmithwildwood

A man who had previously rose to internet fame was convicted on Thursday, 4/25, of the 2013 brutal beating of an elderly New Jersey man. 30-year-old Caleb McGillvary aka Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker was found guilty of the first-degree murder of 74-year-old attorney Joseph Galfy. McGillvary first gained notoriety for giving an animated interview that vent viral about how he stopped an attack on a utility worker by using a hatchet. That happened on February 2, 2013 in California. In May 2013, McGillway met Galfy in New York City. Galfy offered McGillway a place to stay at his New Jersey home. Police found Galfy severely beaten to death. McGillway had fled but was spotted in Philadelphia and arrested. He claimed that he was sexually assaulted and acted in self defense. The prosecution argued that the extent of the injuries to Galfy went beyond self defense. Sentencing is on June 13. He faces life in prison.
