Four people have been injured after a woman drove through the front of a South Philadelphia store early Monday afternoon. It happened at the Rainbow shop on the 2400 block of South 24th Street. A 71-year-old woman was trying to park her 2018 Kia Sportage SUV. She accidentally hit the accelerator and went forward. A 16-year-old boy, who was outside the store, was hit and dragged into the store before ending up trapped underneath the vehicle. He was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition. His family identified him as Mani Rai, a sophomore at Furness High school. A 57-year-old woman suffered neck and back injuries and was taken to Methodist Hospital. A 15-year-old girl was treated on scene for a knee injury and a 14-year-old girl was treated for a foot injury. They were taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for further evaluation. The driver was not hurt but was taken to Presbyterian Hospital for observation.

A local man help rescue a bald eagle that was injured on the highway in Chester County over the Memorial Day Weekend. It happened on Saturday, 5/25, on the Route 30 bypass in Downingtown. Dandon Miller of Lancaster was on his motorcycle when traffic stopped because of the injured bird in the roadway. He got off of his bike and threw his flannel shirt over the eagle. He kept it calm until authorities arrived. Tri-State Bird and Research, Inc, says "The bird has injuries to its feet and one wing. She also has a mild eye injury. No broken bones. She is being treated with antibiotics and pain medications. She is also receiving subcutaneous fluids. She is eating on her own. We are cautiously optimistic about her prognosis for release, but it will depend on how the wing injury heals." Tri-State took in another rescued bald eagle last week from South Jersey. America's national bird has been making a comeback in our area. The number of nesting sites has tripled in the past ten years in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 2014, Pennsylvania took bald eagles off its list of endangered species. New Jersey is recommending they be downgraded to threatened. There are a couple dozen nesting sites located in the Philadelphia area. View the map Pennsylvania Bald Eagle Nesting Sites.

A teen boy was struck by a stray bullet while playing video games inside his North Philadelphia home on Monday afternoon, 5/27. It happened around 4 p.m. on the 800 block of West Lehigh Avenue. The 17-year-old boy was in his bedroom playing video games when a bullet came through the wall and hit him in the left calf. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
