The Rooster Closing June 8th; Large Apartment Fire in Chester County; 18yo Pregnant Girl Shot in Car

The Rooster, originally Rooster Soup Co., is closing its doors on Saturday, June 8th. The charitable diner is simply not making enough money to then donate to its cause. The restaurant's mission, which was a venture between Steve Cook and Michael Solomonov (CookNSolo) and FederalDonuts, was to donate profits to Broad Street Ministries. The Jewish diner-style deli menu was built around a matzo ball soup made from the backs and bones left over from Federal Donuts fried chicken. CookNSolo does know how to make a successful restaurant. Society Hill's Zahav was named the best restaurant in the country at the James Beard Awards this year. Read their open letter about the closing of The Rooster: http://www.roostersoupcompany.com

Dozens have been displaced after a 2-alarm fire tore through a large apartment building in Chester County early Tuesday morning, 6/4. It happened around 1:45 a.m. at ReNew at Glenmoore Apartment Complex on 600 Ardsley Place in West Vincent Township. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire coming from the roof of one of the buildings. The building itself was three-stories with 40 units. It took 100 firefighters to bring the blaze under control by 3 a.m. No one was injured. 75 people are now without their home and most of their belongings. The Red Cross is helping. The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Chester County Fire Marshal are investigating the cause.

An 18-year-old pregnant woman is in critical condition after being shot while sitting in a car in the Harrowgate neighborhood of Philadelphia. It happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday night, 6/3, near Emerald and Clarence Streets. She was a passenger in a Chevy Impala. The car had stopped a block up at Atlantic St to talk to someone they knew. That's when the shooting started. Police say 30 rounds were fired from at least two different guns. The driver reversed back down Emerald to avoid the gunfire, but the passenger had already been struck. The woman was hit three times in the chest and torse. She was taken to Temple University Hospital. It is believed she is around 2 months pregnant. No one else was injured, but bullets left holes in several cars and homes. Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.

Sports
Philadelphia Phillies OF Andrew McCutchen will miss the remainder of the 2019 season with a torn left ACL. McCutchen was injured during a rundown on Monday night, 6/3, in San Diego vs. the Padres. Cutch was caught in an impossible situation on 1B when Padres second baseman Ian Kinsler purposely let a popup by Jean Segura drop in front of him. Segura wasn't running hard to first and McCutchen wasn't running to 2B in case the ball was caught. The infield fly rule doesn't apply if there is only 1 person on base. It was an easy double play for the Padres, but a big blow to the Phillies lineup.
