A juvenile black bear that had been roaming the Philadelphia area the past week has been captured. It was first seen in Warrington, Bucks County, on Saturday, 6/8. The bear was then spotted wandering through neighborhoods in Montgomery County, Oreland on Monday and Wyndmoor on Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, the bear was seen on train tracks just west of the East Falls SEPTA station. On Thursday morning, 6/13, it was seen digging in dumpsters at the Henry on the Park apartment complex. Authorities finally caught up to the animal in Northwest Philadelphia's Andorra section near the Cathedral Village senior-living community. The bear was tranquilized and captured. It took four men to carry the bear out of the woods and place it into the bear trap. The state game warden had said it was around 100-pounds and probably 2-years-old. This is the time of year that juveniles wander away from their mothers. The bear will be taken to Hawk Mountain in Berks County, approximately 90 miles away.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Mullica Hill, Gloucester County, New Jersey on Thursday evening, 6/13. It happened just before 9 p.m. There were Tornado Warnings for areas in Southeast Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, as well as South Jersey. A line of thunderstorms came through the area this evening with heavy rain, winds, and lightning. There are Flash Flood Warnings up through the rest of the evening. The NWS will determine the strength and path of any tornado when it goes out to survey any damage.

Possible tornado in Wenonah, NJ.

Philadelphia Police have charged a suspect in a deadly stabbing earlier this week in Germantown. 26-year-old Brittany Holness from the 1500 block of West Glenwood Street is charged with murder and possessing instruments of crime. It happened on Tuesday, 6/11, around 9:30 p.m. on the 5300 block of Lena Street. 27-year-old Teniesha Iseley of Frankford was stabbed twice in the chest during some sort of argument. She was taken to Einstein Medical Center but died shortly after 10 p.m. Holmes was found near the scene and arrested that night. Police are trying to determine the motive.
