One person was killed and five other injured when a graduation party at a Southwest Philadelphia park turned into a mass shooting on Father's Day Sunday night, 6/16. It happened just after 10 p.m. at Paschall Park off 70th Street near Reed Bird Place. Police say about 60 people were attending the barbecue which was organized by several families. "It appears as if three males were seen near that parking lot area, around the time of the shooting," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. "One of whom started shooting into the crowd, indiscriminately and subsequently struck obviously six people, one of whom died. It's just another case of wanton and senseless violence that we can't get our brains around." 24-year-old Isiaka Meite was hit in the back. He died a short time later at the hospital. Three boys ages 15-17 and a 16-year-old girl were all shot in the legs. A 24-year-old man was shot in the elbow. They are all in stable condition. Police have not determined a motive. They are also working on a description of the shooter. There will be a vigil at 5 p.m. Monday at the park.

Two people were injured in a two car accident on the Roosevelt Boulevard early Sunday morning, 6/16. It happened around 3 a.m. in the southbound outer lanes near Longshore Avenue. A Jeep and a Honda sedan collided. The impact caused the Honda to roll over several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield. They were taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in critical condition but are expected to survive. The other injured person was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

A driver lost control and crashed into a business in Northeast Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, 6/16. It happened just before 4 p.m. at Revolution Laundromaton the 3800 block Morrell Ave. near Frankford Ave in the Torresdale neighborhood. A large hole was punched through the front of the brick building building. No word on if the integrity of the building was compromised. No injuries have been reported.
