Retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has been named as the 2019 recipient of the Liberty Medal. The National Constitution Center said Kennedy will be awarded the medal for efforts 'to preserve, protect, and defend liberty by inspiring Americans of all ages to learn about the Constitution through civic education and civil dialogue.' The Liberty Medal recognizes individuals who strive to secure the blessings of liberty to people around the globe. He served on the Supreme Court from 1988-2018. The award ceremony will be Sunday, October 27, at the National Constitution Center.

Fire broke out at the Tanger Outlets in East Lampeter Township Lancaster County on Monday, 7/1. Flames and thick plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles. A piece of construction equipment had caught fire. It was working on a section of the parking lot where a large sinkhole opened up last summer. There were no injuries and no stores were affected.

Hundreds of teens and young adults caused damage to police cars and others after gathering for a party in North Philadelphia on Sunday night, 6/30. It happened around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Sydenham and West Jefferson Streets. "Anywhere from 800 to 1,000. There were a lot of young adults out here tonight," said Chief Inspector Joel Dales. The party started out as a cookout, but word got out about a "free party" on social media and the crowds started showing up. Police put out a citywide assist for all available officers. Neighbor Rachel Williams said, "Twelve kids were like dancing and twerking and going insane on top of my car, as well as just everywhere." Four police vehicles were also damaged by people jumping on top of them. They were left with shattered glass and large dents. Officers were eventually able to get the crowd to disperse. There were no reported injuries and no arrests. They are looking into surveillance video to help identify the car vandals.
