Delaware State Police are investigating after an elderly man and woman were shot to death inside a nursing home in Wilmington on Saturday afternoon, 7/20. It happened at 1:12 p.m. at the ManorCare Health Service-Wilmington nursing home on the 700 block of Foulk Road. An 82-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman were found dead from apparent gun shot wounds. A handgun was recovered from the scene. The female victim was a resident of the home. No one else was hurt. Authorities say there was no other threat to other residents, visitors, or staff and this was not an active shooter situation. Family of residents who were waiting outside were worried for a few hours until they received an update on what happened inside. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.

UPDATE: Authorities are treating the incident as a murder-suicide. The victims have been identified as 82-year-old Louis Camerota and his wife, 79-year-old Gail Camerota. Gail was a patient at ManorCare. Investigators say that Louis came to the facility to visit his wife. He approached her in a common area and shot her once. He then turned to gun on himself.
