One man has been killed and five others were injured in a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on Sunday evening, 7/28. It happened around 8:15 p.m. on the 2600 block of Carroll Street. "The victims were on the step down the street as we understand it, they were about to shoot a rap video, when a couple of people came down and shot, we do not know if it was one or more persons at this time," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. One man was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other five men were hit in various places (legs, neck, back, chest, finger) and are listed from stable to critical condition. All of the men are in their early 20s. No arrests have been made at this point. If you have any information call police at 215-686-TIPS.

UPDATE: 21-year-old Ezra Weah, also known as rapper Bankroll Gambino, has been identified as the man killed in the shooting. Weah's manager, Kenney Blake, said that they had filmed a music video on Saturday, 7/27. They were gathered on the steps Sunday night to record a promotional video on social media for Gambino's new single releasing August 10th when the shooting happened. Police say that Weah was also shot at around 4:12 a.m. Sunday in the area of 53rd and Baltimore Avenue. Police found a loaded stolen handgun on the victim when they took his body to the hospital.

A 10-year-old boy is recovering after been hit by a wayward bullet while attending a minor league baseball game in Allentown on Saturday night, 7/27. It happened around 6:30 p.m. on the field of Coca Cola Park prior to a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game. It was Harry Potter theme night and a group of kids were enjoying festivities on the turf. The boy was in right field when he collapsed and began bleeding from the back of his knee. He was taken to a local hospital and an x-ray revealed a bullet lodged behind his knee. He was then transferred to a trauma facility for treatment. Investigators could not find any indication that the shot came from within the park and there were no reports of gunfire in the immediate vicinity of the park. After reviewing video of the boy collapsing and the angle he was hit, they believe the shot came from someone firing into the air somewhere further away. The boy is recovering now and received a care package from the Iron Pigs. Lehigh Valley is the AAA-affiliate of the Phillies.

A man charged in the murder of his wife in Northampton County on the Fourth of July and arrested in Colorado after a manhunt was arraigned on Friday, 7/26. 80-year-old Edgar Himel was formally charged with homicide and theft charges in the death of 66-year-old Penny VanTassel-Himel. He was asked during arraignment if he wanted to apologize to his wife's family and he said, "Yes. Only them." When asked if he had anything to say to the public he said, "They've already formed their own opinion." Police received a 911 call from VanTassel-Himel's cellphone on July 4th reporting an emergency but officers never made contact with anyone at their home. She was found dead three days later. Himel was arrested on July 13th in Sterling, CO. The initial police response is under investigation.
