$7,500 Reward for Northeast Philly Tire Slashers
  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 03/13/12 6:45 pm | updated: 03/13/12 6:45 pm
A $7,500 reward is being offered for the arrest of whoever is responsible for slicing the tires of at least 55 cars in Northeast Philadelphia this winter since December. Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey vowed to step up the hunt for the vandal or vandals during a visit to a Holmesburg today where at least eight vehicles had been slashed overnight.

Police investigators said the evidence shows that the same blade had been used over at least 5 different slashing sprees, leading them to believe that one individual or the same group was responsible.

"Somebody knows something," Ramsey said. “There's some idiot somewhere bragging about it."

Police patrols have been stepped up in the areas affected and Neighborhood watches in the Northeast are on alert for any suspicious activity. This is a senseless, fruitless crime that is leaving residents extremely frustrated. Even the cheapest set of tires can cost someone hundreds of dollars to replace the whole set. That's money people do not have to spare these days.

The police are hoping for a tip. Somebody has to know something. The city is putting up $2500 and the Fraternal Order of Police is adding an additional $5000 to stop these vandals.
