Philadelphia comdian Kevin Hart was seriously injured in a car crash in the Los Angeles, California area early on Sunday morning, 9/1. It happened around 12:45 a.m. near Mulholland Highway and Cold Canyon Road in the mountains of Malibu. Hart was a passenger in his brand new classic 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. Jared Black was driving the car and Rebecca Broxterman was also a passenger. The driver lost control trying to turn from Cold Canyon onto Mulholland and veered off the road and rolled down an embankment. Black and Broxterman were trapped. Hart was able to get to his nearby home and summon help. Both Hart and Black suffered "major back injuries" according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) and were taken to the hospital. Broxterman complained of pain but did not seek medical attention. Hart did undergo surgery for his back on Sunday evening and is reportedly doing well. He will be in the hospital for a few days.

No charges will be filed against a store clerk who opened fire and killed an armed robber at a cell phone store in Southwest Philadelphia last month. The Philadelphia district attorney's office said after reviewing surveillance video from the store, the police deemed the shooting justifiable self defense (see video). It happened around 4 p.m. on Monday August 26th at the MetroPCS (Metro by T-Mobile) store on the 7000 block of Elmwood Avenue near 70th Street. The suspect, a man in his 30s, walked in brandishing a firearm and throws a bag on the counter. The employee quickly pulled his own weapon, which he has a license to carry, and shot the suspect multiple times. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities in Lehigh County are investigating the accidental shooting of a toddler. It happened inside a residence around 11 a.m. on the 4100 block of Springmill Road in Whitehall Township. Police responded to an area hospital after receiving a report that a 2-year-old was the victim of an accidental self-inflicted gun shot. The child arrived with non-life threatening injuries. It is not clear at time how the young child got their hands on a gun. The investigation is ongoing.
