The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has announced the nominees for the 2020 induction class. This year's ballot includes first time nominees Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Motörhead, The Notorious B.I.G., Pat Benatar, Soundgarden, T. Rex, and Thin Lizzy. The other nominees are Depeche Mode, Judas Priest, Kraftwerk, MC5, Nine Inch Nails, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, and Philly's own Todd Rundgren. This is certainly an eclectic representation of 'rock' music including everything from classic and punk to grunge and disco to electronic and hip hop. In order to qualify, acts must have been making music for over 25 years, that means they released their first single or album by 1994.

This is the sixth year for Kraftwerk, the fifth for MC5, the fourth appearance for Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, the third nomination for Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, and the second appearance for Judas Priest and Todd Rundgren.

Devo, John Prine, LL Cool J, and Rage Against the Machine were dropped from last year's ballot.

Ballots are sent to 1,000 members of the music industry to vote. The Rock Hall selects the top vote getters with at least 50% of the votes for inclusion, usually 5-7 each year. The public also gets a vote. Go to https://www.rockhall.com/vote to cast your ballot. You can vote for up to 5 artists each day. All of the public votes are tallied to create a ballot alongside the industry votes. Voting ends on January 10th. You can vote once per day. The inductees will be announced in January. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2020 Induction Ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, will be held at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2, 2020.

Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Motörhead, The Notorious B.I.G., Pat Benatar, Soundgarden, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy, Depeche Mode, Judas Priest, Kraftwerk, MC5, Nine Inch Nails, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, and Todd Rundgren.

Vote for the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees starting October 17th. https://www.rockhall.com/vote
