A teenager has been arrested and charged with raping a young woman at gunpoint in broad daylight at Norristown State Park in August 2017. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele announced on Monday, 10/21, that they arrested 19-year-old Mason Alexander Hall, who was 17 at the time of the attack. On August 1st, 2017, the 19-year-old victim was jogging in the park when she was approached from behind and assaulted. Her attacker was wearing a hood and she could only give a limited description. Police used advanced DNA phenotyping to create a sketch of the suspect. DNA also led them to distant relatives of the suspect which narrowed down their search to Hall. Hall had been in an incident a month after the attack where he smashed a headlight with a hammer causing his hand to bleed. Investigators matched the blood from the hammer to the DNA from the sexual assault. He is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of an instrument of crime, and possession of a firearm by a minor. He is being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $1 million cash bail. His preliminary hearing is on Oct. 25.

There are now two separate $30,000 rewards for information on two shootings over the weekend that left a 2-year-old girl dead and an 11-month-old boy critically injured. Yazeem Jenkins was shot while riding in his stepmother's car through Hunting Park on Saturday evening, 10/19. He was hit four times and is in critical condition at the hospital. 2-year-old Nikolette Rivera was shot in the back of the head and killed when a gunman opened fire on her home in the Fairhill neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, 10/20. Her mother and a contractor were also struck. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter asked the public's help in finding those responsible at a press conference on Monday. "We need help from the public," Kenney said. "The city will do as much as we can do but we can't do this alone and we need people to give us information on who these folks are." "No child should be murdered in their living room, it's just terrible," said Coulter. The investigations are ongoing. If you have any information call police at 215-686-TIPS.

A former meth user staying at a halfway house in Upper Darby supposedly ordered uranium and had it delivered to the residential living community. The man ordered the weakly radioactive material from a company in Michigan apparently because he thought it would be cool to pose with and post to social media. All mail at the facility is intercepted and screened. The package was received on Monday, 10/21. Harwood House is located on West Chester Pike near Township Line Road (Rt. 1). Authorities and Delaware County Hazmat crews are on the way.
