Two people are dead and several others are injured after a multi-vehicle accident in Northeast Philadelphia early Sunday morning, 12/15. It happened at the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Cottman Ave. in Mayfair. Four women, ages 20-30, were traveling westbound on Cottman Ave. in a Nissan Maxima. Two men were traveling northbound on Torresdale Ave in a Chevy Malibu at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Malibu went around two vehicles stopped at the red light, entering the intersection, and t-boning the Maxima. The Malibu flipped over and slid up Torresdale. The Maxima spun and struck a utility pole outside St. Hubert's school. The female driver of the Nissan was ejected from the vehicle and was killed after hitting a fence. One female passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The two other females are in stable condition. The male passenger of the Chevy succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The 27-year-old male driver was also ejected from the vehicle but is in stable condition. Police believe speed and alcohol played a role in the rash. The driver of the Chevy Malibu is expected to face charges.

UPDATE 27-year-old Nehamiah Carstephen has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle while DUI, Homicide by Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence; Aggravated Assault while DUI, Aggravated Assault by Vehicle and related charges. 29-year-old Ciara Parker, a passenger in the Maxima, died. 18-year-old Rashaan Cole, Carstephen's nephew, was a passenger in the Malibu and also died.

One man is dead and two others injured in a triple shooting in Kensington on Sunday afternoon, 12/15. It happened around 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of H and Thayer Streets. A 21-year-old was shot in the head. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he died a short time later. Another man was shot in the face and is in extremely critical condition at the hospital. A 22-year-old was shot in the left leg and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

A police officer was found dead inside his patrol car in Delaware County on Saturday night, 12/14. The officer was discovered outside of a Wawa on the 100 block of Morton Avenue in Folsom. He has been identified as Detective William Henderson of the Ridley Police Department. Officials say that he died of natural causes. Several area police departments have been posting condolences.
