Five people are dead and around 60 are injured after a multi-vehicle pileup on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in western Pennsylvania early Sunday morning, 1/5. It happened at 3:40 a.m. in Westmoreland County about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. The accident involved a passenger tour bus, several tractor-trailers (including a UPS truck and a FED-EX truck with packages left scattered on the road), and a passenger car. 5 people were pronounced dead at the scene. The other injured were taken to area hospitals. The highway was closed for hours. It reopened in both directions late Sunday afternoon. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash. It is not yet known if weather was a factor.

Police in South Jersey have made an arrest in the deadly stabbing of a deli owner on Friday afternoon, 1/3. According to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, 18-year-old Dyheam Williams of Lindenwold, NJ, has been arrested and charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the death of Jerome Pastore. Williams was taken into custody at his home in Lindenwold and is being held at Camden County Jail pending a pre-trial hearing. It happened just before 5 p.m. on Friday outside of the Shamrock Delicatessen in Audubon, NJ. Pastore confronted Williams for stealing the tip jar from the counter inside the deli and was attacked.
