A New Jersey high school basketball coach was assaulted on Tuesday night, 2/4, apparently by his own players. It happened around 9 p.m. outside Malcolm X. Shabazz High School in Newark, NJ. The incident was caught on video and shared on social media. The video shows the JV coach being attacked by four members of the team. They repeatedly kicked and punched him as he was on the ground. This happened just after they got off the bus after returning from a game in Livingston. Allegedly, the coach had tried to stop the players from bullying another student. "Our detectives are investigating this incident to identify and to appropriately charge those individuals involved," Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. Since the players are juveniles, their names will not be released, but charges are expected. All involved have been suspended.

Lower Merion Township Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Ardmore on Thursday evening, 2/6. It happened at 5:50 p.m. at Ardmore Avenue and School Lane. The 51-year-old male victim was near the cross walk when he was struck by a white Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center where he died a short time later. The driver fled the scene. The victim's identity has not been released. It was raining at the time. Police are gathering surveillance video from the area. If you have any information, contact Lower Merion Police.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Carter Wilson of Ardmore. The driver and his lawyer contacted authorities around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. He is a 32-year-old male from Wynnewood. Police have the 2020 white Jeep Grand Cherokee that was involved in the crash.

The man dubbed the "Straw Hat Bandit" has been sentenced to 71 years in prison for a series of bank robberies, weapons offenses, and money laundering. 60-year-old Richard Boyle of Plumstead was convicted last March for 11 armed bank robberies in Bucks and Montgomery counties between 2012 and 2016. He wore distinctive hats and disguises that garnered him the nickname. Boyle started this bank robbery spree after being released from prison from another batch of robberies. He stole around $500,000 which he laundered through his photography business.
