The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Thursday, 3/26, that the deadline for obtaining a REAL ID has been postponed by 1-year. The deadline was set for this October. It is now October 1, 2021. You do not have to have a REAL ID compliant identification, but it is required for many things including boarding a commercial flight and entering a federal building. "The federal, state and local response to the spread of the Coronavirus here in the United States necessitates a delay in this deadline," acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf said in a statement Thursday. "Our state and local partners are working tirelessly with the Administration to flatten the curve and, therefore, we want to remove any impediments to response and recovery efforts." Earlier this week, President Donald Trump said, "At a time when we're asking Americans to maintain social distancing, we do not want to require people to go to their local DMV." For more information on obtaining a REAL ID in Pennsylvania go to: https://www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID/pages/default.aspx

President Donald Trump approved New Jersey's major disaster declaration due to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. The declaration allows the state to get money and resources from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to fight the disease. There are over 4,400 positive cases and 62 deaths in New Jersey due to the virus. "With our major disaster declaration approved, New Jersey will now have access to greater essential federal support to help our residents through this emergency," Murphy said in a statement. "This declaration will allow us to lift remaining bureaucratic barriers to assistance and enhance our statewide response to COVID-19. I am grateful to the Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for their collaboration and coordination in supporting our response and recovery efforts to COVID-19 in New Jersey."

Starting on Sunday, March 29, SEPTA will begin to operate Regional Rail on an Essential Service Schedule. Trains will runs every two hours, 7 days a week. The Airport line will run every hour. The Cynwyd line will run M-F only. This service change reflects the 94% reduction in ridership SEPTA is experiencing on the Regional Rail lines during this 'stay-at-home' order. The Transit lines (bus, trolley, and subway) will continue to run on the Saturday schedule. You can find the new Essential Service Schedules for the trains at: https://www.septa.org/service/rail/midday-schedule.html

PATCO is also making adjustments. Ashland, Westmont, City Hall and 12th/13th, and Locust Street stations will be closed starting Saturday. For more information on the changes in schedule go to: http://www.ridepatco.org/
