New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Tuesday, 6/23, that outdoor amusement parks, water parks, and playgrounds will be allowed to reopen on July 2. Amusement and water parks will have to operate at 50% capacity. Guests and workers will have to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Rides and other areas will be frequently sanitized.

A longtime Haverford Township employee died on Monday, 6/22, in a workplace accident. It happened around 1:30 p.m. at a township building on on Hilltop Road and Old West Chester Pike. Kenneth "Casey" Berry was working on the hopper at the rear of a garbage truck at the time of the tragic accident. He was taken to Lankenau Medical Center where he died. Berry had worked as a mechanic for 20 years. "This was a tragic accident and it is an extremely difficult situation for everyone involved," a press release said. "A thorough investigation is underway to determine the factors that lead to this fatal accident. Grief counselors have been brought in and will be available to the first responders and all Haverford Township employees."

New Jersey officials are investigating after three family members drowned in an above-ground swimming pool in the backyard of a home in East Brunswick, Middlesex County. It happened around 4 p.m. Monday, 6/22, on Clearview Road. An 8-year-old girl, her 32-year-old mother, and her 62-year-old grandfather all died in the pool. Some believe there might have been an electrical problem with the pool that caused the deaths. "This is a devastating day for our entire community. It is too early to determine exactly what happened," Police Chief Frank Losacco said in a statement. "We are working with the Middlesex County Prosecutors office and will release information as it develops."
