Philly Police Look For Missing 2yo; PA Eviction/Mortgage Moratorium; Explosive Hurts Teen Girl Foot

Philadelphia Police are searching for a missing toddler. 2-year-old King Hill was last seen around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, 7/6, near 31st and Page Streets in Strawberry Mansion. Amber Hill, King's mother, said she hasn't seen her son in about a month. She dropped him off with a trusted stepfather in early June. Earlier this week, the stepfather texted Hill that he dropped off King with a babysitter. The babysitter says she dropped the toddler back with the mother, but the mother says that didn't happen. Special Victims Unit is handling the case. King has brown eyes, black hair, is around 3 feet tall, and weighs around 32 pounds. If you have any information, contact SVU investigators at 215-685-3251 or call 911.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced on Thursday, 7/9, that he is extending the state-wide moratorium on evictions and foreclosures until August 31. The moratorium was set to expire on Friday, July 10. "I am taking this action to help families know they will have a roof over their heads and a place to live while all of us fight the COVID-19 pandemic," Wolf said in a news release. "It takes one more burden off of people who are struggling and ensures that families can remain in their homes so they can protect their health and well-being." If you are struggling to pay rent or mortgage, you can apply for assistance through the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.

A teenage girl suffered seriously injuries to her foot after an illegal explosive device went off inside a home in Germantown on Wednesday night, 7/8. It happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 5500 block of Blakemore Street. The 16-year-old girl was visiting a friend's house and was in an upstairs bedroom with two other teen girls when the unknown explosive detonated. "Most of her right foot is gone," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. "We believe it all occurred from an explosion inside the private residence... There's a large hole in the floor, about a foot square, that actually blows open a hole into the first floor. You can see from the second floor down to the first floor." She was taken to Einstein Medical Center and is in stable condition. The Bomb Squad has not determined the exact type of explosive, but they did say it would have been in a class of illegal explosives and not consumer fireworks. 24 hours earlier a boy in Philadelphia suffered severe hand damage while holding an M-class explosive.
