The National NAACP will be taking over the Philadelphia chapter after Philly's President Rodney Muhammad posted an anti-Semitic meme to Facebook last month. The executive board of the Philadelphia Chapter of the NAACP voted to allow the national office to replace all of its leadership. An administrator will be appointed by early September 15 and will take control over the chapter. Gov. Tom Wolf, Mayor Jim Kenney, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, and the Anti-Defamation League Philadelphia among others had called for Muhammad's resignation.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday, 8/26, that gyms will be allowed to reopen on Tuesday, September 1 with restrictions. Gyms, as well as indoor amusement facilities, have been closed since March due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Gyms and health clubs can only reopen to 25% capacity. Fitness classes must be limited to 1 person per 200 sq ft. Gym members and staff must wear a mask at all times. Gym equipment must be spaced 6 feet apart and must be frequently sanitized. Logs of members and staff present in the facility must be kept to help contact tracers in the case of an outbreak.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a police car was set on fire overnight in South Philadelphia. It happened around 3 a.m. at 11th and Wharton Streets just outside the 3rd District station. The front passenger wheel well and front bumper were burned. The wheels were slashed. Someone was seen riding away on a bicycle. A series of similar fires set to police cruisers happened in University City and Center City last month.
