Man Sucker Punches Teen in Bucks Walmart; Breonna Taylor Philly Protests; Dogs Sniff Out Laternflies

Police in Bucks County are searching for a suspect wanted for assaulting a teenager with special needs inside a Walmart on Saturday, 9/19. It happened around noon at the Walmart at 195 North West End Boulevard in Quakertown. Richland Township police released surveillance video from inside the store of the incident. The suspect is seen walking with a woman pushing a cart with a child. They passed the 16-year-old victim, who was just standing there, when the suspect sucker-punched him in the face. The couple immediately left the store and fled in a white SUV. If you have any information, call police at 215-536-9500.

Protesters gathered in Center City Philadelphia on Wednesday night, 9/23, after a grand jury decision was announced in the killing of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, KY. Hundreds of people have been marching through the streets and around City Hall. The Kentucky Attorney General announced on Wednesday afternoon that a grand jury did not charge the officers who fired the fatal shots during the police raid at Taylor’s home on March 13. Their actions were ruled 'justified.' Former officer Brett Hankison was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment for firing into a neighbor's home that night. The FBI is still investigating possible federal crimes including civil rights violations. There are similar protests around the country tonight.

UPDATE: There are reports of two Louisville police officers being shot and injured during protests in KY on Wednesday evening. They are stable and a suspect is in custody.

Researchers at University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine have been training dogs to detect the very faint smell of spotted latternfly eggs. So far they have had success. The research dogs "correctly identified egg masses with up to 95 percent accuracy while also correctly ignoring non-target scents up to 93 percent of the time." Lucky, an 18 month old German Shepherd, is a trainee dog that will eventually work with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Spotted Lanternflies lay egg masses that can contain up to 50 eggs. They can be hard for humans looking to destroy the invasive pests to find.
