A former Germantown Academy teacher has been accused of having an ongoing sexual relationship with one of his former students. The relationship was uncovered when the victim when to Whitemarsh Police this past July. It started when the student was in 11th grade in 2014 and lasted 18 months until the summer after her graduation in 2015. Investigators were able to uncover texts, e-mails, and other evidence that confirmed the sexual behavior. There has also been a second student making accusations, but no charges yet. Cheatle's wife was apparently pregnant during part of this time. He resigned as a Latin teacher from the Fort Washington school on September 1. He has been released on $100,000 bail and due back in court October 14. Anyone who has information or may know of additional victims should contact Whitemarsh Township Police at 610-825-6530.

Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel announced on Thursday, 10/1, that Red Paw Emergency Relief services will continue in Philadelphia. The non-profit organization was set to shut down today after running for 9 years due to funding and staffing. Red Paw provides emergency services to pets affected by disaster. The organization will start to train firefighters in the Community Action Team to provide emergency care for pets. The organization will pivot to providing care and supplies to those animals.

"I am pleased that Red Paw will continue to be one of our critical partners in serving all of our residents, businesses and visitors 24/7, 365 (days a year)," said Thiel. "The services that we provide are not going anywhere. There will be actually better services in the face of all these challenges. There will be more complete services. We will have a bigger team, a better team," said Lori Albright, Red Paw COO.

A man was taken into custody after he used a sledgehammer to break into the lobby of a local television station early Thursday morning, 10/1. It happened before 5:30 a.m. at Fox 29 in Old City. The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Ronald Ormsby of South Jersey, got into the lobby and was yelling and screaming, demanding to speak with a news anchor.
