Widespread looting and rioting have overtaken large parts of Philadelphia for a second night on Tuesday, October 27, following the shooting of 27-year-old Walter Wallace Jr. Wallace was shot and killed by Philadelphia Police officers during a confrontation in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, 10/26.

The unrest was contained to West Philadelphia on Monday night, but has spread to other areas of the city on Tuesday. Philadelphia Police have been overwhelmed by the number of people and geographic spread of the rioting. Residents in West Philadelphia, Southwest Philadelphia, Fishtown, Port Richmond, and Kensington have been advised to remain indoors due to the demonstrations that have turned violent. The PA National. Guard has been mobilized to assist Philadelphia authorities.

Looting occurred at many retail locations. People could be seen streaming in and out of various locations in Port Richmond along Aramingo Ave. including Walmart, Target, Dollar General, Foot Locker, Burlington, five below, and more with handfuls of merchandise and loading up waiting cars. The evening started with a peaceful march in West Philadelphia, but the night was soon taken over by opportunists.
