Philadelphia officials are expected to announce new coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions on Monday, November 16 at an afternoon press conference. Cases have been rapidly rising in the city and state. Philadelphia has been posting record high daily case numbers, even higher than the spring. Although the positive cases have been high and hospitalizations are growing, deaths are not spiking. "We will be announcing additional restrictions on Monday. We're working out exactly what those will be right now, but people can expect that," said Philadelphia health commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley.

Everyone already has to wear a mask and there are tight restrictions on gathering size. Here are some possibilities for new restrictions: Indoor dining could be halted again. Outdoor dining will still be permitted, but with cold weather on the way that just won't be an option for many diners. Also, any non-essential business like gyms, spas, salons, movie theaters, etc. could be either closed or placed under curfew. Philadelphia may start to feel like it was in back in March and April. Officials are recommending that you keep holiday celebrations small and not to gather with people outside your household.

A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after a shooting in West Philadelphia on Friday night, 11/13. It happened around 8 p.m. on the 300 block of North 55th Street. The teen was shot once in the stomach. He was transported to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. No weapons have been recovered and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Three young teenagers were injured in a triple shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on Friday afternoon, 11/13. It happened around 4:15 p.m. on the 1700 block of South 30th Street. A 15-year-old girl was shot once in the right arm. She was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. A 14-year-old girl was also shot once in the right arm. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. A 13-year-old boy was shot once in the left foot. He also was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. All three were in stable condition. No weapon was recovered and no arrests have been made.
