Hundreds of firefighters gathered in Northeast Philadelphia today to say goodbye to Lt. Robert Neary and FF Daniel sweeney. Both firefighters lost his life while fighting a five-alarm warehouse blaze in Kensington on Monday. Firefighters from Texas to Canada came to pay respects to these fallen heroes. Neary, 59, and Daniel Sweeney, 25, were killed by a wall and roof collapse.

The viewing and memorial for Firefighter Sweeney will be at St. Cecilia's Church at 535 Rhawn Street, with hours from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The interment is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 4001 W. Cheltenham Avenue and it will immediately follow the funeral services.

The viewing and memorial for Lt. Neary will start at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Givnish Funeral Home at 10975 Academy Road.
The internment and service are private.

Phillies’ first baseman Ryan Howard might not be able make a difference on the field at Citizen's Bank Park yet but he certainly can elsewhere in the city. He was in the Hunting Park today to help dedicate a new field for the neighborhood. What was once a typical litter strewn lot is a brand new pristine baseball park. “This park is amazing. It looks beautiful,” the Phillies’ injured first baseman said. It is the first phase of a $3-million public/private project revitalizing Hunting Park.

April 13th is Jazz Day in Phila. Jazz Day is intended to be a focused day of celebration during Jazz Appreciation Month to inspire concerts, educational outreach events and jazz advocacy activities in communities all across the Nation. Philadelphia has a rich history in Jazz music with artists such as John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Dizzie Gillespie, Sun Ra, Charlie Parker, and Grover Washington Jr. Tune in to Hang on iradiophilly.com for the best in Jazz.

Clear skies this evening and pleasant, temperatures remaining in the 50's. Overnight low of 46 in Philadelphia.
