Philadelphia Phillies have hired Dave Dombrowski as President of Baseball Operations. Dombrowski did not commit to bringing in someone for the General Manager position, but said it would be a strong possibility. Former GM Matt Klentak was reassigned elsewhere in the organization back in October. Dombrowski has a history of assembling World Series caliber teams with the Marlins, Tigers, and Red Sox. Florida won in 1997 and Boston won in 2018. "This is a great day for the Philadelphia Phillies," said managing partner John Middleton in a statement. "David Dombrowski is one of the most accomplished executives this great game has ever seen, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Philadelphia. Between David and Joe Girardi, we now have two of the best people in place to set us on the path back to where we want to be, and that is the postseason and contending for world championships."
