Deadly Woodhaven Rd. Crash; West Chester Hookah Shooting; South Philly Gym Fire; Schwartz Leaving

A woman has died after a single car crash in Northeast Philadelphia around midnight, 1/2. It happened as the vehicle was exiting Woodhaven Road onto Thornton Road. The car left the road and crashed into a pole. The woman was sitting in the backseat. She was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead. There were three males also in the vehicle. They were treated for minor injuries. Authorities say that the men appeared to be intoxicated. No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.

Police in Chester County are investigating following a shooting at a hookah lounge early Saturday morning, 1/2. It happened around 3 a.m. at Hookah Matata on the unit block of Gay Street. Two people were shot inside the lounge. They were taken to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing. A fire broke out at a South Philadelphia gym around midnight on Saturday, 1/2. It happened at OpenBox Athletics in the 1900 block of Washington Avenue. No one was injured. Officials are determining the cause of the blaze. Gyms in Pennsylvania are going to be allowed to reopen for indoor activities starting Monday, 1/4.

The gym posted on Instagram, "Unfortunately, what you may be hearing as you wake up this morning is true. OBA suffered a fire last night. The extent of the damage is still being determined. Thankfully, no one was hurt. This is another speed bump at a time that we were very much looking forward to seeing you all inside in just days. But we will be back."

Sports
Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz is reportedly not returning next year. Schwartz will let his contract expire while he takes 2021 off and contemplates retirement. Schwartz joined the Eagles in 2016.
