Authorities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware are searching for a fugitive wanted for a variety of charges including aggravated assault. 27-year-old Archi Toe of Philadelphia was last seen by officers in Evesham Township, NJ, on Wednesday night, 1/27. Evesham Police stopped him around 10:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the Shoppes at Elmwood at Route 70 and Troth Road. They suspected him of stealing catalytic converters and saw burglary tools in the vehicle. They also determined that he was wanted in PA and DE. They tried to remove him from the vehicle but a struggle ensued. Toe hit the gas pedal and took off, striking the two officers. They chased him for about a mile before he crashed into a tree and fled into a wooded area. The two officers had minor injuries and are expected to be ok. If you have any information, call Evesham police at 856-983-1116 or the confidential tip line at 856-983-4699

The Camden Fire Department has been fighting a large fire at a scrapyard on Friday, 1/29. The freezing and windy weather conditions have made it difficult to contain the blaze. Firefighters were called out to Camden Iron & Metal on the 1200 block of South 2nd Street around 4:30 a.m. The blaze is producing heavy smoke and the wind is hampering the water streams of the firefighters. Several crew have been taken to Cooper Hospital for treatment from the smoke. The scrapyard recycles metals and the smelting process can cause fires.

Johnson & Johnson announced on Friday, 1/29, that its single-shot coronavirus COVID-19 vaccine was 66% effective at preventing moderate disease in a global Phase 3 trial, but that it was 85% effective at preventing severe disease. The global average includes the U.S. and seven other countries. There was some global variation. The J&J vaccine is actually 72% effective at preventing moderate to severe disease in the U.S. The company is working on filing an emergency use authorization with the FDA. It would then go before an independent panel for recommendation, like Pfizer and Moderna did in December. This vaccine has some advantages in that it is only a single dose and it does not have to be stored in freezing temperatures, just a regular refrigerator.
