[Philadelphia] Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS), presenters of the Philadelphia Folk Festival, in collaboration with The Bluegrass Situation (BGS) announce a stellar line-up for this winter’s premier digital music event, CABIN FEVER FEST, February 20 and 21.

If you are like so many music enthusiasts, you undoubtedly attend Festivals and, well, gathering in person is still not an option. BUT, do not fret! The Philadelphia Folksong Society and the Bluegrass Situation have you covered. This weekend, we will debut our new CABIN FEVER FEST which can be attended by anyone with internet access (and a ticket) anywhere in the world! Enjoy the stunning lineup from the comfort of your home and #StaySafeStayHome with us.

The shift to a digital experience allows us to welcome some incredible global performers and we are thrilled to present OKAN and Wesli from Canada; Midnight Skyracer and The Wandering Hearts from the UK; Elephant Sessions from Scotland; and thanks to the National Eisteddfod in Wales who graciously shared their Tŷ Gwerin o Bell (literally translating to Remote Folk House) where three Welsh artists - Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, Tant, and VRï came into the studio to record their sets with only the crew and one another in attendance. The fourth Welsh artist, Pedair (translates to Four) composed and recorded this beautiful song, Cân y Clo (translates to lockdown song) from their homes.

The addition of these international artists adds another wonderful dimension to this event. “I am so excited to be able to present some of the incredible artists from across the world that I’ve been lucky enough to discover and now, I can share them with everyone!” says PFS Festival and Programming Director, Lisa Schwartz. “There is no greater way to bring our community together than through the shared experience of enjoying music. I am certain that our audience is going to love them!”

Just like our legendary summer event, The Philadelphia Folk Festival, Cabin Fever Fest will feature local artists as well as national and international artists; local artists continue to be a focal point and organizers are thrilled to announce that 13 Philadelphia Music Co-op members have been chosen to perform. “Every year, the bar is raised,” says, PFS Festival and Programming Director, Lisa Schwartz. “These artists represent some of the very best in our local music community. They are incredibly talented, hard- working, gracious individuals, and I am so proud to have them join us for Cabin Fever Fest.”

The Philadelphia Folksong Society's Philadelphia Music Co-op works with area musicians to showcase, collaborate, and develop them as artists. Entering its tenth year, the Philadelphia Music Co-op now boasts more than 100 incredible acts that deserve to be on everyone's radar. Look for these Philadelphia Music Co-op artists at Cabin Fever Fest:

What Do I Get With the VIP Ticket?
The VIP Ticket is for current PFS members only (become a member HERE for as little as $3 a month or $35 a year!) and includes THREE WEEKS of access to select PFS Archives (February 8-28th, 2021), access to participate in any and every workshop and open mic you want, and the opportunity to attend artist meet and greets via zoom! FAQs ABOUT THE VIRTUAL FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE
How Do I Watch?

Tickets provide unlimited access to the Festival on one device at a time via the browser-based Festival (viewable on your phone, tablet, computer, television, projector, or screen of choice - same as the Philadelphia Folk Festival)!

I Attended the Digital Philadelphia Folk Festival - Is It Like That?
Yes! Think of Cabin Fever Fest as just a wintertime Philadelphia Folk Festival! The only difference will be that there will be one stage dedicated to participatory workshops for professional musicians and PFS members alike - with opportunities to learn, play, and/or sing along!

I Didn’t Attend the Digital Philadelphia Folk Festival - How Does This Work?
The Cabin Fever Fest is digital and available for you to watch on one device at a time from the comfort of your home. The event will start on Saturday, February 20th at 10am EST and end on Sunday, February 21st at 9pm EST. You’ll then be able to watch anything you miss on demand for the next week until February 28th!

Do I Have To Sit In Front Of My Screen All Weekend?
Can’t watch the Cabin Fever Fest on a certain day or don’t want to be in front of a screen all weekend? NO PROBLEM! Each day of the Fest you purchase will give you access to the concerts for a whole week following the event! For the second time in the history of music festivals (after the 2020 Philadelphia Folk Festival), you can be in two places at once and not miss a single performance of the event: watch any music you may have missed or rewatch your favorites again and again!

ABOUT THE BLUEGRASS SITUATION
The Bluegrass Situation is the world’s largest community for American roots music, culture, and lifestyle. What began as a blog for like-minded Los Angelenos pining for bluegrass in Southern California has morphed and grown over a decade to become an international standard-bearer for all of the things we love about bluegrass within every branch and offshoot of the roots music family tree.

From vibey pop-folk to ravishing alt-country; plus blues, singer/songwriter, Americana, old-time, and everything else above, below, and in between. The Bluegrass Situation proudly represents a unique gathering place, even in during pandemic lockdown, producing virtual events such as online variety show Whiskey Sour Happy Hour, presented by BGS co-founder Ed Helms, and the fifth annual Shout & Shine, a showcase celebrating equity and inclusion in bluegrass. BGS is proud to support and uplift the rich, diverse, and varied history of these musics, while looking ahead with a progressive vision to transform these folkways and traditions into a carefully curated, 21st century lifestyle open to all.
