Levon Helm, singer and drummer for The Band lost his battle with throat cancer today. According to family he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. As a member of The Band, Helm was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also received the Grammys' lifetime achievement award. During the 60's, the group worked as Bob Dylan's backing band, and starred on the Woodstock stage. Songs from The Band can be heard regularly on either our Libra stations.

Former Phillies outfielder Lenny Dykstra has been sentenced to nine months in jail after pleading no contest to charges he exposed himself to women he met on Craigslist and assaulted one. Prosecutors in Los Angeles say Dykstra exposed himself to several women who responded to ads looking for personal assistants and housekeepers. During one of the incidents, prosecutors say, Dykstra held a knife and forced the woman to give him a massage. This just compounds the outfielder's problems. In March, he was sentenced to three years after pleading no contest to grand theft auto and providing a false financial statement, and is currently awaiting federal bankruptcy charges.

Police have announced an arrest in a deadly shooting at an Upper Darby barbershop. 27-year-old Sharif Wynn of Philadelphia was arrested today. Wynn claims the shooting was accidental. Police say Wynn was dating the victim's ex-girlfriend. The shooting happened at 2pm yesterday. Police say the gunman walked up to the victim, who worked at the barbershop, and then demanded money. Authorities say even though the worker gave the gunman money, he was then shot in the head. Upper Darby police say the barbershop worker appears to have been targeted and not just a random victim.

In Sports, Phillies start a 4 game series against San Diego tonight late. Vance Worley vs Joe Wieland on the mound.

Clear skies tonight with temperatures in the 60's for most of the evening in Philadelphia.
