A Montgomery County man is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death outside her Chester County home in front of her two young children on Sunday afternoon, 4/18. 31-year-old Danelo Cavalcante of Royersford is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and other related offenses in the death of 33-year-old Deborah Brandao. It happened outside her home on the 300 block of Pawling Road in Schuylkill Township. Her 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were also outside with her at the time. When Cavalcante arrived, he pulled Brandao to the ground by her hair. He then got on top of her and pulled out two knives. Brandao was stabbed more than a dozen times in the chest and upper torso. Her 7-year-old-daughter ran to the neighbors to call 911. Cavalcante was gone by the time police arrived. Brandao was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Cavalcante fled to Virginia where he was arrested by Virginia State Police. He already had a restraining order against him from December.

A man was struck and killed on Sunday while riding a minibike in East Falls on Sunday, 4/18. It happened around 5 p.m. on the 3900 block of Henry Avenue. A driver ran a red light and struck the rider. The 25-year-old rider was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene. No word on possible charges.

New Jersey's Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) has added a gender neutral option to driver's licenses and identification cards. Anyone who does not wish to select male or female can now chose the 'X' gender option. The option is for residents who identify as non-binary or do not want to indicate a gender. "Diversity and inclusion are core values for New Jersey, and for all of us at the MVC. We know this new option will be deeply impactful for many residents, as access to resources and the ability to live and work freely so often hinges on having documentation that correctly reflects your identity," MVC Chief Administrator Sue Fulton said in a statement. The change was planned last year but was delayed by COVID-19.

Sports
Former Philadelphia Phillies slugger Jay Bruce announced he will be retiring from baseball. He was playing with the New York Yankees this season. He played for the Phils for two seasons in 2019 and 2020. He finishes his 14 year career with 319 home runs.
