Suspect Wanted in Lower Merion 7-Eleven Attack; Teens Charged in AC Boardwalk Robbery; Deadly Crash

Lower Merion police are searching for a suspect who attacked a convenience store clerk over a money order. It happened shortly after midnight on Wednesday, 5/5, at the 7-Eleven store on the 100 block of City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd. The suspect entered the store and asked the clerk for a $5,000 money order. The clerk pointed to a sign that said they don't do money orders after 9 p.m. The suspect then said he wanted his money back, but the clerk told the man he never handed him any money. The clerk then pointed to the security camera to show that he could prove there was no exchange. The suspect became angry and knocked items off the counter. He then went behind the counter, punched, and knocked the clerk to the ground. He fled with a woman in a light blue 2001 to 2004 Hyundai SUV. The clerk suffered minor injuries. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday, 5/4, that four more girls have been charged in connection to a robbery in a store on the Atlantic City Boardwalk last month. It happened just after 7:30 p.m. April 1 at at City Souvenirs. The store owner, 66-year-old Mahmood Ansari, collapsed and later died after being threatened by a 12-year-old boy with a knife. His cause of death has not yet been determined. There were multiple juveniles in the store at the time causing trouble. The boy was arrested along with a 14-year-old girl.

An 11-year-old girl, two 14-year-old girls, and a 15-year-old girl have now been arrested. They face varying charges of robbery, theft, shoplifting, and conspiracy. "This investigation has been a top priority of the Atlantic City Police Department. We know that this investigation is very important to our community. Our detectives have diligently and expeditiously worked with our partners from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office to hold each individual accountable who were involved in these crimes," said Atlantic City Police Interim Officer in Charge James Sarkos.

One person was killed and another injured in an accident on Route 202 in Montgomery County early Thursday morning, 5/6. It happened around 3:30 a.m. on the 500 block of Dekalb Pike between Grasshopper and School House lanes. The crash happened in a construction zone on the road between Normandy Farms and the William Penn Inn. A black car crashed into the back of a tanker truck. Firefighters had to extricate two people trapped in the vehicle. At least one person was airlifted to the hospital. No word on their condition. The investigation is ongoing.
