The Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners passed ordinances this week banning smoking on the beach and limiting use of recreational marijuana in certain public places. All of the new ordinances will go into effect on June 7. Wildwood Crest used to allow designated smoking areas on the beach, but now the entire beach will be smoke free. The use of marijuana and cannabis products will be prohibited in public places like the beach, parks, and recreational areas. The board also passed a measure prohibiting the operation of all cannabis establishments, distributors, and delivery services in borough limits. New Jersey is in the process of setting up a marijuana marketplace after it was recently legalized. Municipalities have the option to set some of their own rules regarding the use and sale of cannabis.
