A man was shot and killed and another man was injured in a double shooting at store in East Germantown on Tuesday night, 6/1. It happened around 10 p.m. on the 1200 block of East Chelten Avenue. The 23-year-old victim was walking into the store when the gunman walked up behind him and fired multiple times. He was struck in the back of the head, back, and chest. The man collapsed on the front stairs of the store. "Clearly appears to be an execution type homicide," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. Police rushed him to Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A 27-year-old man inside the store was struck on the ankle. He fled the scene and ran a few blocks until finding police. He was taken to Einstein and is in stable condition. Eight shell casings were found at the scene. The suspect was wearing all dark-colored Nike clothing: a dark-hooded sweatshirt, dark sweatpants, and dark slippers.

Some members of Philadelphia City Council are proposing to add $100 million to the city's 2022 fiscal budget to address violence, focusing on the youth. Philadelphia City Council's Committee on Children and Youth proposed the increase at a press conference on Tuesday, 6/1. It is called "Youth Powered Anti-Violence Agenda." It includes trauma counseling, youth employment, expanded rec center hours, libraries and other services especially in areas plagued by violence. The Kenney administration has budgeted $18.7 million for anti-violence initiatives.

Police have made an arrest in a shooting in Norristown, Montgomery County on Monday night, 5/31. 38-year-old Brian Cole of Philadelphia is charged with three counts of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, persons not to possess a firearm and related offenses. It happened just after 11 p.m. near Green and East Airy Street. Cole was walking to the Norristown Transportation Center when he encountered three women who are friends with his child's mother. Cole is upset with the mother of his child. She has a protective order against him. Cole began to argue with one of the women. He left the area, returned with a 9 mm hand gun, and fired 13 shots at the women who were either sitting in a car or standing beside it. Two of the women were shot multiple times and flown to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Police arrested Cole near the transportation center. He still had the weapon.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect wanted in a double shooting on Memorial Day, 5/31, in Spring Garden. It happened around 12:40 p.m. at 16th and Brandywine Streets. The victims, ages 27 and 30, were shot in the face and head. They were pronounced dead at the hospital. On Tuesday, the SWAT team, homicide detectives, and police backup entered the suspect's apartment building at 18th and Spring Garden Streets looking for the suspect. He was not home, but they executed a search warrant to gather evidence. The investigation continues.
