Police are searching for suspects responsible in two separate armed robberies at Wawa stores in Montgomery County and Philadelphia early Tuesday morning, 7/13. The first robbery happened around 3:30 a.m. at the Jenkintown store on the 800 block of Old York Road in Abington Township. Three men dressed in black entered the store and forced employees to empty the register. "All three men were heavily armed with semi automatic hand guns. At least one of the males was equipped with an extended 33 round magazine in his hand gun," said Abington Police Detective Steven Fink. Thirty minutes later, around 4:00 a.m., a Wawa store on the 8100 block of Castor Avenue in the Rhawnhurt section of Philadelphia was also robbed. Three men were standing near the register area. When employees asked if they needed help, one of the men pulled out a handgun with an extended magazine. They stole money from all of the registers and fled. Police are trying to determine if the two incidents are connected. No one was hurt. If you have any information, call the Abington Township Police Department at 267-536-1100.

The Philadelphia Broad Street Run is returning in-person this fall after going virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic and being postponed this past May. They can also defer entry to 2022 with a discount. Registration opens on July 15 at 12:01 a.m. 2020 participants who wish to register for this year's race must complete registration by July 29. There will then be a limited lottery for any remaining spots.

Fire and hazmat crews responded to a chemical plant in Montgomery County early Wednesday morning, 7/14. A fire broke out around 4 a.m. at the Coopers Creek Chemical Corporation plant on the 800 block of River Road in Upper Merion. The plant refines crude coal tar used in asphalt. The fire was located in a tank. Dark smoke was seen coming from the location. It escalated to 2 alarms and was brought under control by 6:30 a.m. In February 2020, firefighters responded to the plant for a fire in the boiler room.
