President Joe Biden has approved Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf's major disaster declaration for the state following Hurricane Ida earlier this month. The storm brought record flooding, flash flooding, and tornadoes across the commonwealth, especially in Southeastern PA. The request included a major disaster declaration for Individual Assistance for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and York counties; Public Assistance for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Fulton, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and York counties; and for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program to be made available to all 67 counties of the Commonwealth.

"Pennsylvanians continue to recover from this deadly storm, which is why my administration made it a top priority to quickly seek federal assistance," Wolf said in a recent statement. "I'm grateful our president has responded swiftly, and the federal government worked with state and local officials to conduct damage assessments and determined that Pennsylvanians are deserving of this critical federal aid. Pennsylvanians will now have opportunities to receive financial assistance, which will go a long way toward replacing and restoring their property."

Two Philadelphia Police officers and another driver were injured in a car crash in the city's Spring Garden section on Sunday afternoon, 9/12. It happened around 4:30 p.m. at 12th and Mount Vernon Streets. The officers were traveling west on Mount Vernon in a marked car. The other driver was traveling south on 12th Street in a silver Hyundai Sonata. They collided at the intersection. The three were taken to Jefferson University Hospital. They are being treated for non life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is being investigated.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a unique burglary in Northern Liberties. A homeowner says that someone stole $50,000 worth of stain glass windows, antique doors, and other original woodwork from their home last week. It happened around Tuesday or Wednesday on the 900 block of North 6th Street. The property has been on the market for a few weeks and was not occupied. The home was built in the 1800s. The thieves made off with interior decorative elements such as transom windows and bannisters. There is a large market for architectural salvage. If you have any information, call Central Detectives at (215)-686-3093 or 215-686-TIPS.
