Former U.S. Attorney Bill McSwain formally announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania Governor in 2022 on Monday, 9/13. There was speculation he would run for months. He joins a growing list of potential candidates. McSwain served three years in Philadelphia as the U.S. Attorney for Eastern Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the position by President Trump. He resigned in January and returned to private practice. 52-year-old McSwain lives in Chester County.

During his tenure in the U.S. Attorney's office, he clashed with Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and District Attorney Larry Krasner. His office brought charges against protesters who committed federal crimes like setting police vehicles on fire during last year's unrest. He also fought to stop supervised injection sites from opening in the city. "As of today, I am a Republican candidate for governor. I am a fighter, a fighter for conservative values that lifts people up and enable communities to thrive. As U.S attorney, I upheld the law when other public officials in Philadelphia would not," McSwain said.

A toddler had to be revived using Narcan after becoming unresponsive inside a Dunkin' store in North Philadelphia on Monday evening, 9/13. It happened around 6:15 p.m. at the store located at Front Street and Wyoming Avenue in Feltonville. The 1-year-old baby girl started crying and then became unresponsive. She was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where she was administered the opioid overdose reversal medication. The child is currently in stable condition. Her parents were with her at the store and hospital. No arrests have been made. The incident remains under investigation. The Special Victims Unit and the Department of Human Services have been notified.
