Police in Cumberland County, New Jersey, have released two age-progressed images of what missing Dulce Marie Alavez may look like now. 5-year-old Alavez went missing from Bridgeton City Park on September 16, 2019. She would be 7-years-old now. The two photos were created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. "We hold out hope that Dulce is alive (as we have no evidence of her demise) and want the public to know that this case will remain open until such time as we locate Dulce and determine those responsible for her disappearance," investigators said in a news release Wednesday, 9/15. Alavez went missing while playing on a playground with her younger brother as her mother sat in a car nearby. There is a $75,000 reward for information that leads to her whereabouts. If you have information, call Bridgeton police at 856-451-0033 or the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office at 856-453-0486. You can also call 856-207-2732 for Spanish.

The School District of Philadelphia is offering to pay parents $300 per month ($3,000/year) to drive their children to and from school. They are also offering to pay $150 per month ($1,500/year) to drive them just in the morning. A shortage of bus drivers has prompted the drastic measures. "What we're trying to do is use all avenues that are available to us to provide for critical shortages that we're experiencing," Superintendent Dr. William Hite said. The district is also utilizing SEPTA Student Fare Cards for families that do not drive. Hite said the SDP is considering utilizing the National Guard and working with Amazon to fill bus driver vacancies.

Health officials in Philadelphia said on Wednesday, 9/15, that nearly all of the coronavirus COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths this year have come from unvaccinated people. 96.5% of Philadelphians hospitalized for coronavirus have been unvaccinated. 98.2% of the 1,184 people who have died in 2021 have not be vaccinated. Philadelphia has 68% of adults vaccinated and 82.6% with at least one dose. Breakthrough cases do occur but they make up less than 5% of all cases this year and are usually less severe infections. "I believe that our high vaccine rate is why we're not seeing all of the cases, the overfilled hospitals, and the deaths that other states with lower vaccine rates are seeing," Acting Health Commissioner Cheryl Bettigole said. She also said, "Being vaccinated is the best way to protect your loved ones, including and especially children who can't get vaccinated yet."
