A Pennsylvania woman who was arrested last week and charged with killing her 87-year-old father and his girlfriend on Long Beach Island, NJ, says that she was framed. 55-year-old Sherry Lee Heffernan was taken into custody at her Landenberg, Chester County, home on October 4. She said she would have surrendered "if I had known I was wanted for something." She did not elaborate on how she believes she was set up.

Police found the bodies of her father 87-year-old John Enders and 75-year-old Francoise Pitoy in Enders' bay front home on North 7th Street in Surf City on Sunday, 10/3. Pitoy's daughter had called police to perform a welfare check after she hadn't heard from her mother. The two had been stabbed to death. Police say Heffernan drove her Winnebago down the shore on September 29. Heffernan is charged with 2 counts of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. New Jersey authorities say that Heffernan was upset with her father after he cut her out of his will. Enders moved ownership of the Surf City home from a trust into his name in May and a sale was pending for almost $2 million at the time of his murder.

Hefferman waived her extradition hearing to New Jersey, however she will remain in Pennsylvania to face charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property charges first. She was arrested in October 2019 in Upper Providence, Montgomery County and failed to appear at required hearings.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is expected to formally announce his candidacy for governor on Wednesday. Shapiro is seeking the Democratic nomination and has the endorsement of current Governor Tom Wolf. He will be giving a speech in Pittsburgh. 48-year-old Shapiro was elected AG in 2016. He was previously a state representative and a Montgomery County commissioner. In 2018, Shapiro's office produced a grand jury report detailing child sexual abuse by priests in Pennsylvania’s Roman Catholic dioceses. Other big issues taken up by his office include Trump election challenges, opioid manufacturers, gas drilling and pipelines, and gun violence.

Sports
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that talks are progressing between the Sixers and Ben Simmons' agent Klutch CEO Rich Paul. They are working out a plan for the embattled All Star to return to Philadelphia. Simmons had previously said he wanted to be traded and would not play a single game for the 76ers this season. The Sixers have been fining him for each missed practice and game in addition to withholding 25% of his salary due on October 1.

UPDATE: Reportedly, Simmons arrived in Philadelphia on Monday night, 10/11, and as has taken a COVID-19 test.
