A senior student at La Salle College High School died suddenly on Saturday night, 10/30. Blake Barklage suffered sudden cardiac arrest. A letter to parents described Barklage, "In addition to being a good student, a tennis player, member of our Mock Trial team, and active in service at the Triest House, Blake was a varsity soccer manager." La Salle's soccer team had just defeated Father Judge on Saturday afternoon to win the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship. Grief counselors are being made available at school.

Four children were found safe in a large warehouse fire in Delaware County on Monday night, 11/1. The three-alarm fire started around 6 p.m. in the abandoned structure on the 200 block of East 10th Street in Marcus Hook. The fire raged for hours, partially due to building materials and old debris on site. The 80-year-old warehouse is partially under construction. It is not known why the four children were at the warehouse, but they were found safe and returned home. The cause of the fire in under investigation.

A second man has been arrested in connection to the death and robbery of a New Jersey pharmaceutical executive who was followed home from a Pennsylvania casino. 26-year-old Devon Melchor of Upper Darby was arrested in Florida while attempting to board an international flight on Thursday, 10/28. It happened early in the morning on Tuesday, 10/26. Melchor and 27-year-old Jekai Reid-John of Norristown allegedly watched 54-year old Sree Aravapalli of Plainsboro, NJ, cash out a significant amount of winnings at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA. The two suspects followed him to his home in Middlesex County. They broke in through the back door. Reid is accused of shooting Aravapalli and is charged with first-degree murder. Melchor is charged with armed robbery and conspiracy.
