Lower Merion High School and the surrounding community are mourning after the long-time, beloved high school principal was killed in a car accident this weekend. Sean Hughes died on Saturday morning following a collision. He was taking his son to soccer practice. The boy suffered non life-threatening injuries. Hughes was admired by students, teachers, and parents for his dedication to the community in his 14-years as principal. All 10 Lower Merion School District schools will be closed on Monday, 11/15.

The U.S. Coast Guard and crews from both New Jersey and Pennsylvania are continuing to search for two missing boaters along the Delaware River. Three people were thrown into the water when a 19-foot recreational vessel capsized around 3 p.m. on Saturday, 11/13. One person was rescued near the former Sunoco Eagle Point Refinery. The search was suspended on Sunday evening due to darkness, but it will resume on Monday at 8 a.m.

Two people were killed in a house fire in West Mount Airy on Saturday night, 10/13. It happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 300 block of W. Mount Airy Avenue. 70-year-old Elaine Morris and her 7-month-old great-grandson Ren Fields died from the fire. Morris' 33-year-old granddaughter and her two other sons, ages 7 an 8, were able to escape. The 8-year-old boy was caught by a neighbor after jumping from a window. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
