Philadelphia officials announced on Monday, 12/13, proof of vaccination will be required at all establishments that serve food starting next month. The mandate will go in effect January 3, 2022. "Any place that sells food or drink to be consumed on-site will have to require that everyone who enters be fully vaccinated against COVID-19," said Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole. That includes restaurants, bars, cafes, sports venues, movie theaters, bowling alleys, concert venues, theaters, food courts, and any similar space that food is served and consumed on-site. It does not apply to schools, daycares, hospitals, grocery stores, convenience stores, and soup kitchens. A negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours will be accepted through January 17, but only vaccines afterward. Staff members at these establishments have until February 4th to become fully vaccinated.
