Philadelphia Police said on Thursday night, 2/3, that approximately 5,000 blank COVID-19 vaccination cards and an unknown number of N95 masks were reported stolen from Pennsylvania Hospital. The senior director of the hospital's vaccine clinic reported the theft to police on Tuesday, 2/1. It happened at the Hall-Mercer Community Mental Health Center on the 200 block of South 8th Street in Center City. There were no signs of forced entry into the storage room where they were kept, but all hospital staff has access to the room. In Philadelphia, proof of vaccination is currently required to get into places that serve food or drink including restaurants, bars, cafes, theaters, concert venues, sporting events, etc. Forging or faking proof of vaccination documents is a serious crime. The investigation is ongoing.

Philadelphia Police have released surveillance video showing the suspect who allegedly shot and injured a security guard at a Rite Aid on Tuesday night, 2/1. It started just before 9 p.m. inside the store near Broad and Oxford Streets in North Philadelphia. The suspect and a woman were causing problems in the store and were asked to leave by the guard. The pair were escorted out of the store and into the AMC Theater parking lot. That is when the male suspect shot the security guard in the foot. The guard was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. If you have any information, call 215-686-TIPS (8477).

The School District of Philadelphia has updated its mask policy in accordance to new CDC recommendation. "Cloth masks alone are no longer considered to be effective protection against the spread of coronavirus." Students, teachers, and staff who wish to wear a cloth mask should also double up with a three-ply disposable surgical mask. Medical/surgical masks are provided for free at school. They can choose to just wear the 3-ply mask or to wear a well-fitted KN95, KF94, or N95 mask for the best protection. The school district will provide KN95 masks for all staff starting Monday, 2/7. Anyone can get a free N95 mask at many locations like Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart. Individuals can get three masks per day.
