PA Republican Senate Race Too Close; Teens Dies in Sand Collapse; Dirt Biker Kills Skateboarder

This November's general election picture is still shaping up after close races in Pennsylvania's primary on Tuesday are still outstanding. The Republican Senate nomination has not yet been awarded. Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick are only separated by .1% or about 1,000 votes. In Pennsylvania, elections separated by .5% trigger an automatic recount. That could take a few weeks. The eventual Republican nominee will face Lt. Gov. John Fetteman who won the Democratic nomination handily. Fetterman suffered a stroke on Friday, 5/13, and had a pacemaker implanted on Election Day, but health concerns did not dissuade voters. PA Attorney General Josh Shaprio (D) will face Pa. Sen. Doug Mastriano ( R) for Governor. Democrat Pa Rep. Austin Davis and Republican Pa Rep. Carrie DelRosso will be running for Lt. Governor.

An 18-year-old was killed and his 17-year-old sister injured after a hole they were digging in the sand collapsed on them in Toms River, NJ, on Wednesday, 5/18. 18-year-old Levi Caverly and his sister were visiting the Jersey Shore with their family from Maine. The two teens were digging a large hole on the beach, several feet deep, when it gave way and trapped them inside. Levi was completely buried in the sand and his sister was covered up to her chest. Emergency responders used heavy machinery in the rescue efforts. Toms River Fire District 1's Chief Administrator Brian Kubiel says, "Please don't dig any deeper than knee deep because at any given time the tides can change. The sand can collapse and ultimately result in some kind of entrapment."

Todd Caverly, the teens' father, wrote on Facebook, "Levi was himself. He was odd. He was quirky. He was not real concerned with what others thought. He knew Jesus Christ. He was involved in the worship team at church, and was the drummer in a teen/ young adult worship band. He was a tech nut and loved to program. The truth is that Scripture says that all our days are numbered. That there is nothing we can do to add a single hour to our life. He knew that. Matthew 6:25-34."
